found out awhile go my old boss was giving me bad references. then was trying to get a job from a guy he called corporate to get a references. He did not leave on good terms, however. He resigned before he was let go due to a Loss Prevention investigation. He is not re-hireable.

It used to be illegal to issue such a reference like this for precisely that reason ! Companies could refuse to give a reference on whatever grounds but they weren't allowed to issue a negative one
