Old age is not natural.

It just doesn't happen in the wild where the lifestyle is healthy and every animal is physically fit and active.

We, on the other hand, propped up by modern medicine, live way past our sell-by dates like shriveled brown leaves clinging to branches of trees in the harshness of winter.

It's not natural.

How long should the normal life expectancy be then in your view?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@deadgerbil In my view? It would depend of the kind of life one is born into in our unnatural world. In the best of circumstances, one needs to "check out" when one is no longer viable financially regardless of age. So if I were a kid born into poverty in America, God needs to take me home pronto.

@sree251 you made a thread just to make this point? You aren't a pleasant person at all.

@GeniUs I am sorry you feel this way. I made this point because a friend just had a pacemaker implanted. He is 65. His partner called 911 when he was found collapsed on the floor. His heart had stopped when they tried to revive him in ER. They managed to bring him back. That was a month ago. When he came for dinner last night, I saw a dead man walking, propped up by technology.

@sree251 what about this though, "So if I were a kid born into poverty in America, God needs to take me home pronto."? Sounds a bit genocidal.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@GeniUs I would consider that mercy killing.
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
@sree251 I guess my feelings are in a way analogous to yours in that I would say that intellectually challenged people with poor and simplistic takes should just be put out to pasture rather than someone who is born poor and/or utilizes technological advancements to simply live.

@Turtlepower You have highlighted a rationale that is driving our unnatural way of life: longevity. The financial capability to prolong life regardless of the quality of life.
