Isla Grist and Graeme Souness
A couple of features on BBC Breakfast TV recently, highlighting the life of Isla Grist. Isla, 14, has Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a life-threatening skin condition also known as 'butterfly skin', which causes her body to blister and tear. It means hours of applying creams and, three to four times a week, the pain of changing her dressings. The young lass is virtually in constant pain (and itching)
Ex footballer Graeme Souness has known her for a few years and is now about to swim the channel to raise funds for those suffering from this condition. I remember Souness as a hardfaced brute of a player (watch your shins!) and to see him on the BBC couch, deeply emotive, even suppressing sobs, was moving in itself.
Power to his elbows! A quick google "Isla Souness" will give further information.
