Regardless of the profile image and name you'd still know nothing about science
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley I am only a sanitation worker.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User You portray yourself as knowing a lot about science. I ask because I hadn't seen any evidence of that.
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley today I am portraying myself as someone who knows something else.

It’s unfortunate that you can’t figure this game out
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User I understand the possibility that you are other than your portrayal.

However you have yet to actually demonstrate any knowledge of the subject matter. Therefore you are asking me to take your word for it.

I understand the game.

But this being the internet you could be anyone and without some demonstration of ability there is also the strong possibility that you know nothing and are full of 💩
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley you have a degree in biology and write software.. and are the mouthpiece for the IOC. All I have been trying to say is that science is not a static field.

You probably went to school in the 80s , as I did..
We couldn’t have imagined what is happening with biology now.

You have yet to demonstrate any depth of understanding of how the scientific method works.

You can think whatever you want of me..
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User I'm not the mouthpiece of the IOC. It's a corrupt organization. i merely am pointing out what they did and how they arrived at their current position.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User I did go to school in the 80's as would be apparent from my age. At the time, it would have been impossible to foresee today's advancements. There is no doubt about that.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User The scientific method has been known for a long time:
I merely pointed out that the IOC tried the stuff you are referring too and realized it doesn't work. Biological males, regardless of treatment, still have physical advantages over biological females. Women do not want to compete against biological males under any circumstances.

The IOC spent a lot of time and money trying to accomodate transgendered athletes and has given up. That's my point.
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley
Women do not want to compete against biological males under any circumstances.

I completely agree.

There was a recent story about a young women in Connecticut who is going through the courts now.

I suppose what I am thinking of is what will happen in the future , as more is possible. Further, I think what would be equitable is a competition between those who identify as as something other than what they were born as…🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t think the matter is anywhere near settled, just because the IOC has made decisions based on data that is available at a given point in time.

As more is known, things will change.

The truth is stranger than fiction…
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User It's difficult to believe that there is any sort of way to level the playing field
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley looking strictly 100 meter world times, it’s not inconceivable to think that the numbers will grow closer as time on.

Personally, I don’t think there is a grand conspiracy to take over women’s sports with trans athletes.

I don’t think it would wrong to do the Sammy Sosa or Mark McGuire notation for those competitors.

I am projecting way out when I am speaking of leveled competitions.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User Even if you are right, what women to do in the meantime? Put up with being dominated in the hope of what? What is the benefit?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User There's no grand conspiracy. i never said so
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User Are you suggesting we give women anabolic steroids to make them more competitive while giving men female hormones?

Drugs distort competition. What are we measuring? That one athlete has better doctors?
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley the conspiracy mention wasn’t directed at you.

For the sake of discussion,

What would the harm be in a longitudinal study with volunteer amateur athletes.

let’s not make any adjustments to male competitors hormone levels, why should there be?

The FTM participants would receive a prescribed dose of testosterone. If threshold levels are exceeded. They are removed.

Only those athletes who go through the process are allowed to compete against women.

For the distant future:

Consider modified athletes? Formula one, or NASCAR humans?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User What is "FTM"?
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley female to male
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User ou are proposing that males compete against females?
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley sorry, I was going the wrong way 😂.
Male to female… so estrogen would have to be checked as well.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User I'm against the use of perfromance enhancing drugs in athletic competition. Once you allow that, then the contest loses meaning. The past, where drugs were not used, no longer have relevance. Skill and ability are diminished by medicine. What are we watching? The triumph of the human spirit or the trimumph of medical science?

Once you go the drug route, at that point you have professional wrestling and few will care.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User Medical manilpulation is not the answer. Besides, what are you trying to accomplish?
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley

What I suggested would not a competition, only a study.

I lost interest in professional sports years ago with PED allegations.
SW-User
@HoraceGreenley accomplished…..I would hope that the argument for another class of athlete be developed. Using whatever markers in the record books needed.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User another class of athletes loses meaning. All they would be is a chemistry experiment.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SW-User How could you study athletic performance without competition?
