I spend my time arguing politics and the thing you don't get is this is to convince me, not anyone else.
I like the challenge of arguing my beliefs and seeing if anyone has valid and worthy rebuttals.
Most of the time, it's like you say, people just spew, then turn around and believe what they believe all the more.
But sometimes you learn things you didn't know. And it surprises you and enlightens you.
For me, its a worthy endeavour.
