Passing thoughts.. It’s sad watching ‘blank slate’ kids take on their parents’ toxic qualities

You come into this word mostly a blank slate then over time you start to become your parents or, in reaction, swing the opposite direction,

— but in the end it still traces back to your folks (whatever they represent). Neither response is a genuine ‘self-identity’, so you still feel something’s missing that you can’t quite put your finger on.

For some people there’s a eureka moment. Usually comes about in their midlife or while working through trauma.
For some eureka never comes. Hopefully for most of those people their retirement years get to be an ‘inner reset ‘ since much of what they spent their life preoccupied with doesn’t matter hardly at all anymore. 🤔

Sadly I see that with my nieces who are being raised by racist, sexist, homophobes and transphobes. Now at least one of them is picking up on it and becoming racist and phobic themselves.
