Could make an argument that it's the soul that's the most essential component of life.

Otherwise we're just a particular arrangement of matter that happens to move, be sensitive, consume nutrients and produce waste, and reproduce. You don't have to believe in a 'soul' in a religious sense, but all life clearly has an animating spirit (for want of better word) of some form.

Blood is important and we can't live without it but it's what enables us to keep living, not have life. I think there's a difference?
@littlemissdani It is important to recognize that we all have a soul and nourishing the spiritual side of us, is just as important as making sure we eat the right things, so we can live. In fact, our spirit is the most important part of ourselves, as it never dies. Our body does, but our spirit lives on forever. Jesus made sure he didn't leave us to guess about that. He made sure that he covered spiritual matters, in His Word. In fact, that is why he came to Earth, to tell us about how to get to heaven and why we need him and salvation. This is something we never want to leave to chance, that is, where we shall spend eternity. Jesus said the choices we make today, determine where we shall spend eternity.
@LadyGrace That's a very beautiful way of putting it <3
