Ended up mildly angering a Mormon missionary today

Usually they are super nice. But I googled ‘secret Mormon handshakes’ and then gave him the secret handshakes. You are only meant to be given the handshakes once you reach a certain level in Mormonism which you then show to an angel when you get to heaven to prove you were a good Mormon, which then gets you into the highest kingdom of heaven.

I thought the church might have caught onto the fact that this stuff was readily available from ex Mormons on google and would have gotten rid of the practice, but as I discovered, no. Nice guy but he mumbled something about how I better be careful who I give the handshake to in the church as it’s offensive. It was literally taking your index finger and putting it in the palm of, and your thumb and putting it in the same place outside of, the hand of the other person. Representing Jesus’ nail wounds. The sign of the nail. Then I did the sign of the Aaronic priest hood, which was WAY too offensive. But no they are nice though. Just seems quite comical

My parents are Mormon's and I can relate. I read the book "the God makers" by Ed Decker after that, my image of them was totally blown

@SW-User i watched the documentary cartoon on joseph smith by south park. I had two missionaries watch it so they could give me commantary as i assumed south park would exaggarate and twist a bit (the whole 'god is angry you destroyed the manuscript to see if i could recite it as im meant to be telling the truth...let me look into this magic hat') and they were like 'thats true...okay yeah thats true' but they never laughed because it basically laid out their beliefs without all the 'cmon just give it a go, have faith'

@SW-User might you be referring to the book of mormomism the musical? Which follows a group of singing missionaries. I havent downloaded their book of mormon app so when they want me to look up a verse on my phone they have to google "book of mormon" and scroll through the top results that are the musical haha

@SW-User neither have i even though it is constantly playing in theatres across the world. You must have seen the clip singing about having their own planet? Its true ive asked missionaries about it but they want to keep it shrouded in mystery even though its all over the web
