When I was younger I sometimes bought clothes for when I finally wouldn't have to have hijab

Now I only bring them out once a year look at them and sigh 😸 I do be a maso like that.

Seeing them now makes me feel sick, they remind me of a time that I had hope things would change. Dunno if I should get rid of them or not, kinda wanna keep them so I won't forget what mindsets I used to have. Also they help me remember my best worst days.

I’ve done similar things during a period when I was living a double life… Do not throw them away, anything can happen, and everything can change.

I believe it important to share these personal experiences without the need to beautify them, raw, sad and truthful.

Too many cultural and religious influences target women's freedoms in the Muslim world. This includes in liberal countries at the family level.

People of our circumstances (for me the past) are often treated as an eyesore by western "liberals", democrats, lot and lot of muslims . That or a case in point to justify bigotry.

I haven't seen single muslim in my community speak against it . Not one. They don't even acknowledge that it is huge problem.

They will tell you:
1- "not everyone does it"
2-" muslims in western countries are forced to remove Burqa/niqab..etc"
3- "it is not Islam, it is people"

Intentionally twisting and moving away from acknowledging the problem.

My favorite though is when certain type of Democrats want to tell me that they don't want to interfere in Islam because they don't know much about it.

Because learning I guess is too much work espacially when it involves learning how minorities within minorities are targeted every single day.

Can't you wear them when you gather with girls, like in a closed place?

I have relatives/friends who wear hijab and they wear regular clothes around other women with their hair, arms & legs showing.
Nanori · F
@SW-User I've done that a few times, it was depressing af knowing they were bought for a quite different purpose y'know.
dumasme · 51-55, M
I spent some time in Afghanistan and was always saddened by the way women & children are treated in that part of the world.. Burkahs and hijabs must be awful to wear.

Is there no chance for you to travel to the west where you can wear them?

I am really sorry. Are you sure you want to get rid of them? Maybe there is hope.
