Winter in the Heart-Land

No one warms my heart.

Nothing warms my soul.

I grow cold and more bitter daily.

The wicked wind rages from within.

It whirls and swirls with a mad vengence.

My skin is chilled.

My thoughts, icy.

Mother nature has nothing on me.

My winter storm rages on while her fickle seasons change.

Summer is but a faint memory.

Warmth cannot be found.

I walk through the icy waters of memories.

I stumble in the dark, looking for a way out.

I am numb, but the ache is deep.

Torrential rains run down my face.

No one notices the whipping wind....

The frozen expression.

The grey skies that are my prison.

No one hears my heart cry out for mercy.

For justice.

No one hears me at all.

I walk alone.

I live alone.

I weather my own storm alone.

I survive to exist....alone.

@Hikingguy It is somewhat comforting to know others understand too, but by the same token, I hate that anyone else has had to experience it because it isn't terribly pleasant.

Yes I think there are too many of us out there in this world when it doesn’t have to be.@LadyBronte

@Hikingguy Yep. And there are so many people who swear they "get it" because their situation is "exactly the same". A lot of them lie, and it ultimately shows in their actions. So we have to watch out for that too. *sigh*
