It’s funny how long some things take

It’s taken me a long time to fully embrace that it is more important to be treated well and valued than to ’have a connection’. It matters more than history, more than the years that flow by, more than the ‘good sometimes’. Today, almost 20 years later, I finally drew some lines with this friend.
Today I finally put my foot down that I expect them to put effort into the friendship or don’t bother calling anymore only when it’s convenient.
—I do not exist to fill peoples’ empty spaces, Metaphorically or literally.
— if I understand them better than anybody then they need to learn to treat me like I matter or piss off.

Yes...so good that you have came to this realisation.. if they cannot contribute to the relationship, it feels like they don't really value it. You value your self and your time... and the right people will appear in time....🤗❤️

Yes sometimes lived experience has to teach us about ourselves and what matters most.
