I think in order to truly be at peace with yourself mentally is to accept yourself as you are :)

I also think your idea about who you are vs how you perceive the world around you matters a great deal in the cognitive mindset and behavior towards others.

Your theory about hating the world if you hate yourself can mainly be applied to someone who suffered a great deal of trauma so much they have given up on life's benifits or an angry teenager or somebody who feels like they have been done an injustice by an individual or society.

But also I agree to disagree as your experience once you come into this word truly shapes you. What also shapes you, is your ability to deal with that experience and the mentality you create as a result because DIFFERENT TYPES OF PEOPLE ACT DIFFERENTLY in a given situation- some bend some break and some twist. We are all different but we are all human and have the potential to both do harm and good.

@MilayaDetka161 What if I told you that when I make a dinner for guests, I don’t expect anything from them? I’m not preparing the food because I want them to compliment me. I’m doing it because I appreciate them either way.
MilayaDetka161 · 18-21, F
@Reject Then you are a true friend my man! Meeting people like you is rare you see because you can appreciate people for who they actually are, not many people can do that. But surely you would prefer the guests to enjoy the meal because otherwise why bother making a meal nobody likes? We all have expectations of some sort and standards of how others should behave.How can you not expect anything from your guests when you could at least consider what food they like or dislike? Relationship goes either way.

@MilayaDetka161 If nobody liked my meal then I would apologize and do better next time because that’s my fault for not considering their tastes enough. You’re right. I should consider what food they like and don’t like. Does this mean I expect anything from them? No, but it does mean I expect more from myself.

Sometimes this is true. Other times it is not. Not all qualities that people hate/dislike in their environment are a reflection of themselves. And in many instances people are able to break away from the influence.

I think there is an overemphasis on seeing feelings as bad. They're not always. It is actions that can make the difference, not thoughts alone and beliefs.

People can hate themselves and hate the world and yet have heavy merits while someone else loves themselves and loves the world yet passes through life utterly disconnected from all else.

@Reject

Yes but I am not rewording it as about who I am to you.

Sure. I know I’m a lot of things to a lot of people.

Why would you think that? Seriously. Why would you believe I am describing who you are?
Reject · 26-30, M
@Miram I didn’t say you’re describing who I am. What I was referring to was how you called me defensive, or rather, my response if that specificity is really what has you bothered. It doesn’t matter. I’m not really interested in all these straw men you keep making.

@Reject

Alright
How old are you mentally?

I am 5 hence, I asked post going through your article.
@Reject Sometimes Only, I am genuinely interested to get response to my question coz
1. I ask rarely
2. My questions are mostly returned with more questions.

@sspec Well if I knew my mental age, I wouldn’t hesitate to tell you. As things are, your guess would be as good as mine.
@Reject
Fair enough.

@Reject ikr?
The ole "Rejection/Break-Up Monologue," is a clincher in today's Uber sensitive society and very readily is accepted with great ease. I literally have no one unwanted in my life now by design. 😆

@SW-User I’d hope we all do.
I don't think i agree with this.. we see the world as it is presented to us by those around us and we feel the feeling brought on by our surroundings.. its not all about us and our world view because our views are given to is by our environment ..
Reject · 26-30, M
@SStarfish Yeah, I honestly did not expect anyone to agree with this. Most people prefer to think the world is responsible for them.

If I accidentally run over the cat because I was admiring a triple rainbow in the sky do I suddenly hate the world?
Reject · 26-30, M
@SW-User No, if for some reason someone did. The cat would be a contributing factor but not the root problem. Like the straw that broke the camel’s back.
