What can I do if I’m experiencing homelessness?

I am currently in a motel with my dog. It is just me and her (she is a husky).I have been calling around to shelters but a lot do not have any vacancies. What are my other options? I have never bought an apartment or any time of housing so I am not sure if I qualify. I currently only have a part time just I just started this month and have been doing side gigs to make money (dog sitting, dog walking, baking, babysitting, cleaning houses, etc). I have about $5000 saved up. It’s all I got and my income isn’t stable. It’s a lot harder now that I do not have a home. I am in desperate need of somewhere to live. If you guys know of anything I can do that can help me and my girl ASAP I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Sounds like your best option is to check craigslist, for rent.com, Facebook marketplace etc. for someone willing to rent a room within your price range who is cool with your husky. Most shelters don’t allow pets anyway. after you’ve found your footing and worked out your finances then you have a higher chance of qualifying for an apartment or studio.

I’d rather stay in a good motel than a shelter. What about buying a good tent, and staying on a secure camping site? Some are really nice, and have showers and cooking facilities.

Some motels rent by the month

Check rooms for rent on airbnb or Craigslist. Bringing the dog may be harder to work.
My aunt lives in a room which is a shared house paid month to month.
Some airbnb people rent long term their room and offer a discount for renting the entire month.
Perhaps a tiny house person would be more willing than a room in a house to allow you to bring your pet.
Have you contacted a local organization in your current town? Local agencies provide a range of services.
There may be a homeless voucher program in your area that can get you into housing/apartment.
