Fix this for my child or fix the freezer today?

[c=BF0080]Maybe both if the first cooperates 😆 My incentive is that my kid will wake up very easy for school tomorrow if I say, “time to get up! Guess what? Your phone is fixed!”

Decisions decisions 🤭[/c]

Freezer. Both me and my ex were always in agreement: Our child would be forbidden from having a smart phone until they turned 18. Flip phone or borrow from mom and dad to call friends while at home.

And yes, I do blame apps like Tiktok where kids are constantly doing deadly things and calling them "challenges." No regulation or moderation on social media apps.

@AstroZombie that's a good rule but she'll probably just buy one when she's 15 or so.

@MellyMel22 Probably a safer thing to do on a phone xD

@AstroZombie I hear ya. I ended up getting my kid a phone because pay phones are nonexistent now: I’d rather they have their own phone than be walking up to strangers asking to borrow theirs, but the parental controls let me block all the problematic crap. It’s hard being that parent who doesn’t let their kid do things that I know are psychologically harmful, but are normalized. All their friends have YouTube channels and TikTok accounts etc.

@WhateverWorks I mean I used to run a YouTube channel but it wasn't family friendly. Dark humor, swearing, etc. Wanted to show that kids belong on YouTube kids and adults belong on regular YouTube. And have fun at the same time, of course.

As long as the kids can't find their way around the parental controls it's good.

Yeah, they were never receptive to kids tube because it didn’t have all the videos etc. that the other kids are watching. Can’t speak for other brands, but I like the parental controls for the iPhones because they’re all managed from my phone as supreme overlord lol, not a background setting on their phone they can fiddle with @AstroZombie

@WhateverWorks Normally I've had issues with Apple computers giving me issues but in this case ALL HAIL THE iPHONE xD
