“Why do bad things happen to good people”…

This question has been in circulation for eons. Not sure atm how to explain it but probably will post about this at some point. What are your thoughts on this?

Because its a fact that unforseen occurrences befall us all. A part of life. Bad things happen to all people.

I think.. it’s too much of an overgeneralization. Sure, sometimes life throws you a curveball. You cross paths with someone who sucks and they screw you over. You’re born into an unfortunate circumstance or life dumps a terrible event on you unexpectedly.

I gotta say though, from the perspective of someone who goes about their life with the aspiration to be a ‘good person’, most of the bad stuff that has happened to me has come about because I had poor boundaries and poor self-care. You can be a empathetic, compassionate, ethical, dependable etc. person and still not stroll into bad situations and allow yourself to get enmeshed with problematic people.

@WhateverWorks yup that’s very important with the boundaries and such, absolutely.

I think everyone is on the journey they are on. Sometimes “bad” things need to happen to move you to a different place. But all still part of the journey.

There is no special reason if we are talking about natural occurrences instead of those inflicted by humans. It is nature taking its course.

And all people are both good and bad. People who are only good are very very rare.

There is extreme evil of course. Those capable of it have better chances of avoiding it. They recognize it in themselves and their evil is shortcut to power. They can manipulate and play outside the rules to achieve safety from evil. Whether that evil is the health industry draining your pocket or working in uranium mines and another three jobs to feed your kids.

Even all of that can be said to be nature taking its course. Humans are selfish. Their ability to love beyond their best interest is cultivated. Their inability to do so can be critical to survival or just misleading fear of death.

We eat each other everyday one way or another.

@gagan1999 Such a typical christain response.

@kodiac

He is a Muslim not Christian. And he is usually uncapable of being rational so I don't feel like bothering to respond. He won't learn anything.

@Miram Seems to be a pattern religious people are the least tolerant of others .

Because they do, and really, that's the best I've ever come up with. I don't think there is rhyme nor reason for it, it's part of life and we live with it, sometimes learn from it, or let it destroy us.

My theory is that being good and bad has no importance in the ecuation, and that the bad things that could happen to one are determined by other things.

Being good doesn't mean you are doing everything right way. Being good and stupid are two different things.

If your question is, "If God Exists, Why is there Suffering?"

"All things turn out for good for those who love God." But we have to be obedient and forgive everyone and love people.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
The reason for the bad is so there is such thing as good
