One chapter in my life, where the children and I, had to leave home very quickly!
"It's not what you've lost in life; it's what you do with what you have left, that counts."
Those are the words the Lord gave me many years ago, when I was being abused and suddenly had to leave home, just me and the kids, to stay out of danger. They made me strong and I knew I could do anything and I learned, just like the song says, that "it's never too late to start all over again". What we may sometimes feel is our end, is actually our new start in life. New beginnings. If you can dream it, you can have it.
You never have to put up with abuse. We had to leave real quick, before my abuser "husband" got home. So we grabbed what we could and put it in the trunk. All I had was the car, 20 bucks to my name, and I took all the food from the refrigerator because we had no money for food, but I knew the Lord would help me find a safe resting place, and though we knew not where we were going, I knew the Lord would lead us to a safe place. I knew I could trust him to do so.
This decision was not made overnight. I prayed for 30 years and I could have left at anytime, but I knew better than to get ahead of the Lord's timing, or it would never have worked. I had no job, no place to go, but the Lord told me it was the right time and I had consulted with Him to ask Him if it was okay for us to leave now and then the emergency came up, to where we had to leave, we had no other choice.
I wasn't scared and neither were the children. We were just relieved to get away from our abuser. So we pulled out from the house and started down the highway and I asked the Lord to show me where to go and what to do. I knew He would find us a place to sleep for the night, though we had no money. So the first thing I did was stop at a little quick shop and bought a newspaper and saw there was an ad for an older mobile home to rent. I knew that was our answer, though we had no money for rent.
I called the number and talk to an older man and told him that we were forced to leave home and had no place to stay, but would he let us rent the mobile home out and when I found a job I would pay him. He readily agreed, though he didn't know us from Adam. So we moved in that night, and we slept all safe and relieved, just as the Lord told me we would. I'll never forget that experience and how the Lord came through for me once again, as He had many times in the past. Nothing is impossible for God. All we have to do is trust. Where there seems to be no way, God will make a way.
I got a job and promptly paid the man with my first check, just as promised. Anything we ask in faith, believing, God will hear and answer. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes the answer is no. And sometimes the answer is "wait". God's timing is very important. If you just wait and trust Him until He tells you when to go, it will work out perfectly. It will be the exact right timing. This teaches us patience, humbleness, perseverance, gratefulness, and so many things and increases our faith. But whatever His answer is at the time, it is always the perfect answer, whether we feel it is or not, because we know God always has our best interest at heart.
