The amount of customers who think it’s your job to be disrespected is very telling.

I had a customer rebuke me in the name of Allah. He was very touchy. He knocked some gum over and asked me if I was mad, I told him “no”, and then he accused me of being rude. He said I’m always rude and I must worship Satan. He also asked me was I bullied as a child and how old I was, I told him that was none of his business. He told me it was a part of my job, I replied that it wasn’t, but according to him I’m in the wrong business.

Like bro, I’m just a cashier. My only job is to ring up the products, not to be disrespected. My manager didn’t witness this, but she told me if he comes back in, to not wait on him and that she will. She thinks he might be mentally ill.

This is what's wrong with both the young and the service industry today; standards have fallen. Just because someone complains in a shop it doesn't necessarily follow that it's the customer fault. It doesn't mean they are a Karen.
@MsBellows how is this not the customers fault? He literally snapped at me for no reason.

@666Maggotz Those that work in the service industry often have a blind spot aas to their own transgressions.
@MsBellows he asked me was I mad and I said “no”. How is that a transgression? Stop trying to shift the blame to me. Was it because I didn’t want to tell him personal information about myself? But guess what? He doesn’t need to know anything about me! Just pay for your stuff and be quiet, then we won’t have any issues. I’m not here to be your friend.
Someone claiming that you worship Satan because they perceive you as being rude? No mental illness there. I work with the public as well and that's the problem we don't get training to deal with people with mental health issues. They just expect us to sort of wing it. But then that's also not good for our own mental health.

I doubt it's a case of being mentally ill. People just have a tendency to suck.
