As a black man in country, business office politics is racist, shady and illogical

I’m lost at what and how to move in an office workspace… when I was relatively talkative and jokey, I was moved to the back drive through…

Now I’m at the back drive through and I’m told that I’m being distant, combative, moody and quiet…

Now I’m getting sent home early and told that I’m wasting resources…

Is this racism, a witch hunt or…..?

What am I missing, how do you “play” office politics?… I’m just trying to show up to my job and go HOME! 🥲

Just be yourself. Forget the office politics. Just do your job as well as you can. Maybe the talkative and jokey stuff was not in line with their expectations. So just focus on being the best and things should resolve themselves.

When I first got there in March for the first 3 weeks they loved me… I was just speaking to members and they offered me full time, I’m a student and couldn’t take it at that time, but communicated my appreciation for the quasi offer and asked to be kept in mind, she said let’s talk again around September, I said cool. Then was moved to the back drive through area. It’s just been thing after thing since then, so now I don’t speak at work, I just show up, quietly do my job and go home.

It’s ruining this working experience, and making it into a chaotic place to work, it’s making it into a shady, sneakily, type of place mentally, so I don’t want to speak to any of them, and none of them speak to me anymore, so I feel like I’m on the way to being pushed out..

@Xperience That sucks. Makes it tough. Still, it’s part of your work record. Keep your eyes open for new opportunities. It sounds like you’ve already figured out how to deal with the BS. Good luck
