Sometimes the last straw can be random

She tells me in her usual ‘woe’ is me’ that her boyfriend’s dog went missing in the night. She didn’t bother to look for it until I inquired.

So.. here’s her boyfriend in another state on a trip. His dog had to stay in a tiny trailer on the property with friends because she isn’t a dog person . The dog gets out and she’s sitting on her ass crying herself a pity party about how sad it is. when I ask about searching for the dog she realizes not looking for the dog is a dick move, and hops off the phone, but within 15-ish minutes gives up looking.

So she tells me about the dog going missing for attention with zero intention of doing anything about it… perfect example of so many instances with this person.

[s]I feel sad for the dog that he’s probably dead because of incompetent, irresponsible people. [/s]
And I’m out…

UPDATE: thankfully a neighbor found their dog and brought them to the Humane Society.

That's sad and awful.

I'd want out too. People like that are exhausting and frustrating to deal with...because often everything is drama and about attention and helplessness... and not about problem solving, doing the right thing, or having intiative.

I'm not a dog person. But when we got a dog, I committed 100 percent to being a good doggy owner because it's the right thing to do for the dog and to be a good partner to my husband.

Thankfully the dog was found by a neighbor. Unfortunately, neither Donna nor her boyfriend learned anything from the experience. Not gonna lie. My patience for Donna has gone out the window after this incident. Last we spoke I was kinda judge-y not accidentally making it clear that I think if you don’t want the responsibility of a dog you shouldn’t be in a relationship with someone who has a dog, not unlike the common sense/realities of dating a single parent. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You don’t get one without the other. @Scribbles
