To me it is a 50/50, if someone saves me from changing and becoming the person who is not me, a savage monster, then I would definitely save him from the demons consuming his head and make him see what he is capable of becoming, someone that no one could ever imagine seeing him becoming that person.

Lostpoet · M
I wish someone could save me.
@Lostpoet Your wish won't be granted coz you post posts based on coffee.
Lostpoet · M
@sspec 🤷🏼‍♂️ i post what i love

@Lostpoet So. Happy whining.
Iwillwait · M
Yes, it is. Totally is.

I think that it in many cases, it is a fool's errand. What people who attempt to save others come to find is that they can only save themselves.
Its a thing but someone has to do the walking
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Depends on what you mean by "saving". That's such a general word.

Yet even if you mean "helping" others, even that seems to be a thing of the past.

Even the charity business has gone all commercial. Often even religious in addition to being commercial.

And that's so sad.
eMortal · M
Saving potatoes is.
TioCarlos · 31-35, M
It's a very popular codependent thing; people saving others from the pain of their lives in exchange for love, freedom, security, friendship, existence.......
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
Honestly I wish the paranormal existed. I'd save people. Hunting things. Supernatural.
RedBaron · M
@ScarletWitch Hunting what, animals? That's so barbaric.
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
@RedBaron do you know what reference I'm making. Or the meaning of paranormal. 🙄
RupertCornelius · 36-40, M
depends on whether or not they want to be saved. most people are addicted to their own chaos.
WhateverWorks · 36-40
You can offer support and encouragement, but you can’t control people’s choices or priorities.
DomMan67 · 56-60, M
You or I can not save anyone that is not willing to save themselves.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
No. People think it is, but it really isn't.
It's a choice if they too intend to be saved.
Pfuzylogic · M
Totally why I taught high school, for the wild ones.

I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff—I mean if they're running and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That's all I'd do all day. I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all.
Viper · M
I need more context, like you talking about medical people trying to save lives? Or something completely different?
Miram · 31-35, F
@Viper Just glorification. You tweak what they already have to help and buy them more time.

Save is a stupid word.
Viper · M
@Miram all people can do, is work with what they got
Miram · 31-35, F
@Viper

Yes.

I find the idea that we are heroes even more burdening , unrealistic expectations of oneself and others is large part of why depression and suicide is so prevalent in healthcare workers. It also reeks of the sense of superiority while service should be humbling.
I’m not Jesus no
Iwillwait · M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout You are, he lives within you, thus, you're Jesus on some levels.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
I've certainly tried, but ultimately, it's up to the person to save themselves.
@basilfawlty89

We can only save those who want to be saved....
Harlow · 31-35, F
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It would be cool.
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
Definitely is.

Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
I used to try to do that, can't fix people though and it's too much energy.
I still do though, I'm studying to be a therapist atm.
ABCDEF7 · M
Like a firefighter who saves someones life, or like a preacher who says he's saving you from ignorance?
Moosepantspatty · 31-35, M
Absolutely. But it doesnt come through single action. It is never enough to save a life, you have to change it.
cycleman · 61-69, M
Depends .... saving Trump 🤣

The civilians in the Ukraine is by far more beneficial.
Valerian · 100+, M
Wow! The wheel fell off the cart early in this post!
Loads of Wackadoo and Brain Blather.
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
No. People have to save themselves. But they do need people to rely on as they do it.
SW-User
No... In the end only themselves do that.
But, others can be helpful.
SW-User
Nope. What a ridiculous martyr notion.
SW-User
I find the idea of it, preposterous. Save? What, are god? Also very self serving and arrogant. We can only work on ourselves.
Oneofthestormboys · 100+, M
A brilliant performance of a relevant song in this case…
I'd feel fulfilled if I ever saved anyone from what causes them harm....
It's so funny I was not allowed to be upset for whatever reasons.
romell · 51-55, M
Why such negative thoughts its the best deed in the world
You must be able to save yourself as well.
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
It gets done. They say
SW-User
Yes, of course it is.
Nope, only shaving is.
SW-User
Only for batfink
SW-User
Saving yourself is.
RedBaron · M
Saving them from what?
SW-User
Not always 😕
