What happened to people? Why is everyone suddenly unable to communicate?

K, I get that a lot of people have their personal problems, never learned (or never cared to learn) how to communicate their feelings and what not but why is it that every time there's some sort of disagreement people are either yelling and insulting or withdrawing and ghosting?
I'm not speaking just about how they treat me (which is an over the top reaction considering how non confrontational I am) but others in general whenever a conflict arises. These two reactions seem to be the most common and a hella lot of them would be solved if only people would sit down and talk.
