I have wondered if some of these cases are due to a mother or other relative who was a covert narcissist. Many of the woman have been sexually abused as children and eat as a way to handle the stress. Narcissists can sabotage the efforts of a family member who is attempting to lose weight by tempting them with foods that they shouldn’t be indulging in. Eating them in front of them or leaving them laying around or offering it to them. The narcissist’s motive could be to keep them pacified with food rather than having their feelings about their past coming up and them revealing what happened and their role in covering it up.
