Table For One Please

The steak is cooked to perfection.

The cosmopolitan delightful and giving me a buzz.

The man with his guitar crooning James Taylor is soothing.

Happy people around me, smiling and laughing with friends and lovers.

It's cozy here, in the corner, as I watch the cold rain pelt the window.

It sounds perfect, doesn't it?

So, then...what the hell's the problem?

An empty heart, a lonely night and as always...a table for one.

During a career of travel I’ve sat at a table for one many times. Sometimes I’ve enjoyed the quiet. Others, it would have been nice to have some company.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@jackson55 I am no stranger to a table for one either. But as you say...sometimes it is welcome, other times not so much. Tonight. Not so much.
jackson55 · M
@LadyBronte Enjoy your meal, my thoughts are with you. 🍷
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@jackson55 Thank you Jackson.
ExtremeNext · 31-35
I often eat out and get a table for one, nothing wrong with it at all
Enjoy
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
@ExtremeNext I still love you. I'm just not sure I'm ready to sleep with you. It's not you, it's me. I'm not making this better...
ExtremeNext · 31-35
@RosaMarie yes it's you
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
@ExtremeNext I fail at life.

Well, lets get rid of James Taylor and his depressing music

We need some uplifting music, some Chivas Regal

LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@nedkelly Well there was Aerosmith, Journey, and The Steve Miller Band, on the way back.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@nedkelly That was a cute music video. Ive always heard the song - never watched the vid! Thanks!
We all find ourselves in the position, one time or another.
An awkward, bittersweet rite of passage on the way to finding companionship, or true love.
Here is a humorous anecdote you might identify with, and give you a renewed perspective.

From American sitcom 'Frasier'

EPISODE - Odd Man Out : Table for One

FROM 5:08 - 10:02 mark

@LadyBronte I understand. Been there more times than I can count. It's lonely, empty.

Well for what it's worth, were I there tonight and saw you alone, I'd ask you to join me.🌹
😌
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@SethGreene531 Thanks. That is kind of you.
If I were alone in a coffeehouse James is one artist who would be perfect for me...so intimate, so one on one are his songs...u know?🥰
@LadyBronte most people are polite and then never listen to anything I post
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Elevatorpitches I actually did listen to it. I'm not ovely polite anymore. Long ovation at the end was well deserved. But I've always wondered...is there such a thing as tomato wine? 🍅 Can't imagine.
@LadyBronte Even the old folks never knew
Why they call it like they do
I was wondering since the age of two
Down on Copperline
Copper head, copper beech
Copper kettles sitting side by each
Copper coil, cup o'Georgia peach
Down on Copperline
Half a mile down to Morgan Creek
Leaning heavy on the end of the week
Hercules and a hog-nosed snake
Down on Copperline
We were down on Copperline

One Summer night on the Copperline
Slip away past supper time
Wood smoke and moonshine
Down on Copperline
One time I saw my daddy dance
Watched him moving like a man in a trance
He brought it back from the war in France
Down onto Copperline
Branch water and tomato wine
Creosote and turpentine
Sour mash and new moonshine
Down on Copperline
Down on Copperline

First kiss ever I took
Like a page from a romance book
The sky opened and the earth shook
Down on Copperline
Down on Copperline
Took a fall from a windy height
I only knew how to hold on tight
And pray for love enough to last all night
Down on Copperline
Day breaks and the boy wakes up
And the dog barks and the bird sings
And the sap rises and the angels sigh, yeah

I tried to go back, as if I could
All spec house and plywood
Tore up and tore up good
Down on Copperline
It doesn't come as a surprise to me
It doesn't touch my memory
Man I'm lifting up and rising free
Down on over Copperline
Half a mile down to Morgan Creek
I'm only living for the end of the week
Hercules and a hog-nosed snake
Down on Copperline, yeah
Take me down on Copperline
Oh, down on Copperline
Take me down on Copperline
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
I'd happily join you for that. Sounds lovely.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@RosaMarie Yes. I will be headed home ✈️ tomorrow morning.
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
@LadyBronte Travel safe. How often are you on the road? I travel almost every week.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@RosaMarie I used to travel often. Now, not so much.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
I wish I could join you, Lady B. That’s my kind of evening.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Harmonium1923 I wish you could too. Company and conversation would be welcome.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@LadyBronte A few times, when I've been traveling and eating alone in a restaurant, I've come on here and asked if anyone would like to be my virtual dinner companion. We get a message chain going and just pretend like we're sitting at the same table. It has been a lot of fun. I'm sorry I wasn't free last night to do that with you.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Harmonium1923 Thanks. I'll remember that next time.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
Your not alone, it's like that for many.... I hope it doesn't last...….💞
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@masterofyou Seems to be a common these for a lot of us. Pretty sure it is just my life now.
Lilnonames · F
