@fernie2 The things that the Nazis did, and that the KKK did here, could truly make one question the existence of any god. Seems unimaginable that a just God could allow such things to happen. 😞

@LilithoftheTrees The fact is that men are responsible for nearly all of that. It's amazing to me that that is hardly spoken of. Just watch the news. Please, no "woman do it too" Tor "Not ALL men, etc" There are evolved, sane non-violent, respectful men out here...but, also many,many,many who are evil rapists and murderers. Seems to be in DNA.

@fernie2 what angers me also is that so many injustices and the abhorrent attitude to women happen under the guise of religion. Then some bright spark comments on things like feminism.

This comes up often and many will say [i]that's Why I'm not religious[/i]. But many evils have been done in the name of science however some will look down on people questioning it. Humans can be Evil and don't require religion to do so.

@LilithoftheTrees Yes but a God is not about being good. It says as much in the bible, "And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none [is] good, save one, [that is], God.". You read the bible you'll see many of the men and women of God were people with flaws. "Let he who is without sin cast the fist stone" .

@bijouxbroussard Sorry, but what standards are these? Who set this standards that determine whether God is God or not? Imagine a cat setting standards for what makes a pig a pig. That's ridiculous. Nowhere does it say (in the bible) that evil will not happen. It only says that in the end evil will not prosper. That's it.

@SW-User you can quote scriptures till the cows come home. The Bible this and the Bible that. In the end religion and the use of justifying things because of a “holy” book is used as a means of control, subjugation and dismissal. That’s the bottom line for me. Yes, not all religions are bad, yes, I get that people need faith, I get all that. But the hypocrisy is what gets me. Come on…things done in God’s name? Because of what some random story tellers wrote? Nah. Sorry.

Why isn’t god a woman?

@LilithoftheTrees Then your contention is with God, otherwise you would see that people can use anything to justify evil. Why isn't he a woman? That's like asking why can't God be a flower, or a tea cup. Why aren't you a man?

@SW-User of course people can use anything to justify evil. Again I’m not disputing that. My contention is with the men who created this supposed god. A supposed loving god who has systematically made women second class citizens. Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Isn’t that convenient? I am fascinated and disturbed that people still subscribe to this dogma. Oh wait that’s convenient for the powers that be - again. You presume by your flower or teacup statement that god is absolute.
