Touch my endoplasmic reticulum

Explain to us what endoplasmic reticulum is. 😌 Does it have something to do with your body that we can touch, or something that cannot be touched because it belongs inside a tiny microscopic cell that cannot be even seen by the naked eye. 😕

@missingmoments: Now, I'm not the most educated so I had to look this up. When I saw that it was in cell biology and a part of a cell, my very first thought was, "how do I, or anyone else go about touching that?" So I'm glad someone else had the same track of thought. 😁

The ER is the part of a cell that makes proteins. Unless someone is going sub-cellular, it's not really getting much touching.
