The story of mrig-trishna is about a deer(mrig) who was in constant search of a Kasturi Mrig that possesses a very sweet fragrance (another kind of deer that possesses a sweet fragrance). In search of this fragrance, the deer keeps searching the jungle for its whole life, never knowing that fragrance was coming out only from its own belly button and he was only that kasturi-mrig.

We as humans should also know that our pursuit of happiness or fragrance is within us and not outside. The moment we get this deep routed within us our pursuit for happiness is over.

We keep searching for happiness in others and around the material world. The peace and contentment that we are searching for is within us. We feel as if we have arrived at our destination. We suddenly notice and find that talent, skill, or means of becoming rich for which we were searching, are there, already nearby and within our reach.

A mental shift happens when you can clearly see that everything is within you. What you are seeking is already within you. All we have to do is ask ourselves instead of seeking our happiness in others! Our happiness lies within us.
