Wrong.
They didn't "do it so easily".
It was a long slog with much to learn, in spite of the basic celestial mechanics & rocket basics being understood.
The US was lucky that Werner von Braun, before interest from the Third Reich, was in a very serious group of rocket enthusiasts, who built rocket engines & test stands to measure thrust...and that they could get him, some V-2s, etc.
Since you are interested in typography, you should also claim Knuth couldn't have invented \TeX when he supposedly did, because it took too long to create Adobe.
Ah, see, there's not enough evidence either way.
Wrong.
I just feel that had they been able to do it so easily in the 60s, we'd have managed to do more with the current technologies.
