How do you react when you're embarrassed, but don't want the other person to know?

A girl was telling a few other people something. I was sitting there trying not to freak. I wanted to say shush, but that's humor and would show her it bothered me. I'm not sure how she took me trying to defend/ignore/change the subject. What do you do?

Hmm... They don't really do anything similar that I know of at least.

You could fake pain, like a stomach issue. Or ask for something from them, like you're thinking of something else entirely ?

I think she'd catch on to faking pain... I like the idea though. She worded it in a way I could have made a joke. Little late now though. 😩
