We buried my brother in law today. Killed by the Fauci ouchie.

My sister asked that the first 8 verses of Ecclesiastes 3 be read at the grave side. As we were pulling into the cemetery the only FM radio station in the area began playing the old song by The Birds - Turn Turn Turn which is based on Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

Pete Seeger was the one who originally adapted those verses into song and The Byrds took his arrangement and added their own touches.

@onrealityofdreams [c=004A59]My favorite is the Seekers version.[/c]
@SW-User It was on the same LP as their hit "Georgy Girl" which contained their version of "Red Rubber Ball".

@onrealityofdreams [c=004A59]I was disgusted to find that I can't buy any of those albums on CD. I did get the Seekers DVD though. Great stuff.[/c]
@SW-User I recall a 5-CD set entitled "The Seekers Complete" released in Australia in 1995 covering their recordings from 1963-67. If you look you may be able to find a copy.

@onrealityofdreams [c=004A59]Thanks...that sounds like a long shot, but I'll look around for it.[/c]
@SW-User I looked on eBay and found three copies - one listing for $79.99, another for $64.99, the third for $60.00.

@onrealityofdreams It is possible to do side by side by side comparisons on You Tube. All three have artistic merit. I have always found it hard to say which is the best but the most common version heard on the radio was always by the Birds.
@hippyjoe1955 The rendition by The Byrds was without a doubt the hit version but declaring the best is a matter of individual taste.

@onrealityofdreams [c=004A59]The Byrds version played constantly on the radio when I was a kid. I didn't discover the Seekers version until fairly recently while I was studying music of the 60s.[/c]
@SW-User Mary Hopkin recorded a version found on the B-side of "Those Were The Days".

@onrealityofdreams [c=004A59]Thanks. I didn't know that. Will have to check it out.[/c]
@SW-User You're welcome. Hers is more along the lines of Pete's version.
