Do conservatives in America have some alternate definition of socialism that only they know about?

Some people have obscured the word 'socialism' just like they've obscured the words, 'racism', 'tolerance', 'conservative', 'liberal' 'progressive', etc.. I was doing it with the word 'progressive' myself. I think my new word for 'progressive' will be "pseudo liberal"...
People in general are, to one extent or another, either collectivist, or individualist, Those who are predominantly collectivist tend to be labeled as 'socialists' and those who are predominantly individualist tend to be labeled as capitalists. It is the extent of our collectivism or individualism that determines whether we are left or right wing in our political leanings. Truth is society cannot function without some measure of collectivism. An eagle cannot fly with two right, or two left wings either.

What do you think socialism is?
Socialism is a political economic method in which the state distributes the wealth of it's citizens and provides for the needs of it's citizens.
"The problem with socialism is you always run out of other people's money."
"Socialism is like standing in a bucket and trying to pick yourself up by the handle"

You know that isn't the definition that is used by anyone else, right?
Paraphrased. That is pretty much what socialism is. Please don't be pedantic with me. That's way too predictable. I gave you the definition in my words. I didn't go google the textbook definition verbatim. That IS what socialism IS.

No, it really isn't. Socialism is about community or societal (hence the name) control and ownership of the means of production, it has nothing to do with the state and doesn't even require the existence of one. What you are describing sounds like capitalism with a lot of welfare.
You know as well as I do, that the state does the control and distribution...You're being pedantic and it's annoying. I'm not trying to be offensive, but I know this stuff.

No, you are just calling something that is an exaggeration of the result of the failure of capitalism socialism for some strange reason.
Okay.
