I've been thinking about getting into some writing...

But I'm not really the best author. I've had this story in my head for a while, and I'm just itching to start on it. But, I have no idea where to start.

I agree. Just write!
Plenty of time to edit; rewrite; add to, later.
Just get it out of your system and see how that feels.
