whats better? a balance between life and death or the absence of both life and death?

I see so many people turn their gardens into concrete landscapes and wooden fences that are chemically treated and turn gray

so many places that once were brown and green and moving in the wind being replaced by static stones and planks

I see people remove their grass lawns and replace it with astroturf and artificial fake grass....

I see people kill caterpillars because they eat the sparse potted plants and flowers.. .and then hear the same people complain that they never see a butterfly anymore

urban and suburban biodiversity is being replaced by lifeless concrete, plastic and lifeless treated wood

There is a doctor who lives in this city who has done that but he is in a wheelchair and has no way to do his own gardening or landscaping. Some people are busy with their careers and also do it even with a tiny back yard.
