Is it weird I never heard my parents argue?

A lot of parents believed they should not argue in front of the kids.
That belief is debunked now.
@SW-User I didn't know this. What do they suggest now?
morrgin · F
@SW-User my mom said some people have told her that her and my dad should have argued in front of us kids so we could learn respectful confrontation and communicating problems with others who disagree
SW-User
@midnightrose It is suggested that children should have an idea of healthy balanced emotions whether they are deemed positive or negative and arguments are a natural part of relationships that they need to learn of.

@morrgin Exactly. That is what is believed and I even agree with that.
@SW-User That is good to know because I've been told the opposite most of my life but I agree with the statement that they need to learn how to have a healthy disagreement.
SW-User
@midnightrose A lot of the times parents think they're shielding their children from things, they're really stunting them. I felt too protected by mine and when I was out in the real world, things shocked me so much and it was harder to adjust. 😂

@SW-User that makes sense. Parents should be able to model healthy conservation for kids, even disagreements. For me, it was always a bunch of yelling/shouting, etc lol
SW-User
@deadgerbil Ugh yeah that is on the other end, lol. Balance has always been a problem for humans. ☹️
@SW-User OMG...same here! Most of my relatives were also like that. I only saw the first major argument between my MIL and SIL...and I went and hid in the bedroom. I didn’t know what to expect...like I thought they’re going to throw pots and pans at each other next, like in the TV shows. 🤭🤣
SW-User
@Vivaci LOL! Sometimes I think it's a wonder we function with any emotions.😂 Technically I should be very stunted. 🙈
🤣 And we’re quite the opposite, thanks to our healthy and free environment at home, and school. @SW-User

@Vivaci Thank God for mercies like these. ❤️
Amen! Thank God for cousins, friends and a never ending stream of relatives...our childhood was perfect. 🥺@SW-User
