So...Bowed Down To Social Pressure...

...and we watched the 'Oprah Megs/Harry/Archie/Bump' Documentary today with my other half...

Quite interesting. Kinda sitting on the fence with some aspects and then with others they resonate with me.

Family...friends...and having to move away from an area/social circle that could be seen as 'toxic'. Yes, I totally get. In my case I was totally oblivious to my surroundings until I was encouraged to move....and we made a better life for ourselves...and couldn't see the wood for the trees, so to speak.

So has Harry. And to actually have to choose between protecting your immediate family and your 'family mafia' is a very tough call to make....and I applaud him for taking that decision.

...and I am glad to hear that Queenie (a lady that admire) is in constant contact with them, even if the rest of the family has been.....hmmmm...shall we say a let down? Yes, why not.

It just shows the power of the media, especially the Fleet Street contingent, and all their negatives......forcing someone to have to leave.

I can't believe that the whole mental health aspect was curtailed by the palace....and really, if your loved one is at the end of their tether, you do whatever it takes - professional help etc - but with that, and the whole 'race' thing (which is wholly unacceptable)...I'm not sure....but very glad that the Queen will be looking into it, at the very least.

Yes...thought provoking....especially on Mothering Sunday in the UK...and World Woman's Week....

But...whatever. They're doing what's right for them....and glad it is working for them.

My thoughts...

Thanks for posting an honest reflection of the interview and for not making stuff up like most have..
I watched it on the Monday. It was nice to see them both relaxed at their home. Saw Harry going buck buck hand feeding chicken and when he spoke about his kid. Says it all really. People need to leave them alone. Its none of our business.

@Gangstress Well...indeed!

I mean, I am a Royalist at heart...I'm proud of being British/English/From the UK etc...but, y'know, regardless of all the 'evil princess' or 'cool princess' things that are flying about, I think people seem to forget that they are human beings, first and foremost....and criticism and hatred - for just breathing, so it seems in Meghan's case - really hurts...

At they end of the day, they are a couple with children and dogs....a normal, everyday family, just born into an extraordinary situation....and as a couple, you just say to yourself, 'Well done. Yes, protecting your family. That's what I would do too.', and we all would wouldn't we?

@SammyJo indeed we would. I would do anything i have to protect my love. And thats what I saw. Just two people protecting their mental health from a toxic situation.
Bless them. It was nice they drove about the Queen fondly. Even I, not a royalist, have seen her as a person not a queen

@Gangstress Well, she is a Great Grandmother after all...which is cool. I think, what with her living so very long as the Queen, in that bubble, all she has is her family to cling onto....and that is lovely. Family is everything.....

I think, over in the UK we had all this concern about tax payers paying for protection overseas, which I get....and then each country saying 'Well, they're not ours!', which I also get. However, they would be very easy targets for some group or other for extortion/murder/hostage etc, so they would need protection.....

The answer? Who knows what the answer would be. I just hope that they can meet up when they can, just like any family that are living away from each other, and get back to some sort of normality...

I feel you speak for many. Thank you for posting.

@Quimliqer Thank you for reading!

Y'know, my eldest daughter has multi-racial children and she occasionally gets racial slurs against her...and what hurts her, hurts me, y'know? So I feel that too...

The Royals are a big family...a big, at times, dysfunctional family, and like all families they're not always perfect. The machinery around them is something else...

I just hope that they can work something out.....family is important, especially as we grow older....
