The Joy of Garbage Day.

I have a 2 year old grandson who like other toddlers is fascinated by the world. He knows that when the garbage cans are at the curb then the truck will be along soon. He gets joy at watching the garbage men dump the cans and smash the contents. Of course the loud noises are an added bonus.

He is so predictable in his behaviour that the garbage men now look for him at the window when they arrive at his house. My grandson smiles at them and waves and they wave to him.

Maybe instead of spreading hatred throughout our day we should be like the garbagemen, bring joy to those we meet even if they are a toddler.

Or we could be like my grandson and bring joy to those we usually take for granted.

One time I stayed home from work on trash day, lived in an apartment complex. When I heard the garbage truck coming around the corner to dump the trash dumpsters my cat tore out from the living room, ran into the dining room and hopped up on the table and then to the windowsill. I think the highlight of her week was watching the trash dumpster get dumped. Now I live in a house and had my parakeets out in the sun room, heard the trash truck coming around the corner and one of the parakeets says “We hear it”....

@jim44444 These parakeets amaze me with what they say. Boo-Boo, my youngest parakeet said “Take care of me” after I woke up and came into the living room this morning. He said it again after about 5 minutes. I think he wanted some greens to eat.
