I think that feeling is more common than we realize. It really is up to the other person to decide if you are meeting their needs though. Making the decision yourself denies them the opportunity to make that determination.
If you don't want to date you don't have to. You are allowed to be single with out feeling guilty about it.

Why do you feel so? Maybe the other person just wanted your company. True love don't have expectations. You don't know what do you worth for them. Although I believe it's always good to improve yourself and evolve into a better human being.

I think it's better to stay single than end up with the wrong person, but you have lots to offer, i think you just need to travel a bit and get out of your environment then you'll meet a lot more people. Taking the first steps though is hard.
