Is marriage like prostitution?
I've heard someone say this once. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

No it is worse. There is continuous emotional coercion disguised as love. They see you at your most naked and vulnerable and they can choose to use that against you if they wish to do so and whenever they may do so. They can convince you to change your entire life for them only to toss it away when they decide to do so. I know of no other profession that abuses ones dignity to that extend

Marriage is a legal combining of assets and companionship. @ianon
