I don't know how much they planned, but it was enough, if barely, sometimes.

Yes. My parents ensured that my basic needs were met and that I have no student loan debt. I owe a lot to them.

I took care of my parents during their declining years and they gave me a house. I have worked on my own as well. My house was a godsend when I had my heart attacks.

They didn’t plan for my financial needs. Soon as I turned 18 I had to plan for my own financial needs

Pension and social security plus a savings was generated from my own effort
no, they didn't have anything

Yes in a way ... at first . My hubby however had a huge inheritance from his father ... so he really was set . We both are financially independent as a result of our work ethics and professions anyway . The other seems destined for our kids

No, because my parents insisted it get the work ethic, education and experience to fend for myself :). And not marry a gold digger. But I accept I had a good basis to start with, but they both grew up on farms so not like they had a silver spoon.

I my parents provided for us growing up. But once I was 18 I took over from there and created my own stability.

Not at all I come from a poor family, there was no financial planning just survival.
AlyAngel · F
Nope, I made it on my own with no real help from them. Despite their efforts to ruin my credit.
Nayla · 56-60, F
No that's not why I survived but it really helped me in the long run

HotPizza71 · 51-55, M
Never been given anything, I've worked for everything I have. I had to give money to my mother when I was a teen!
Nayla · 56-60, F
@HotPizza71 Why did you have to give money to your mother?
HotPizza71 · 51-55, M
@Nayla because she blew hers all the time, I saved! I soon moved out and stopped that!
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 31-35, F
They did their best but a few different unexpected things occurred so we had varying amounts of money growing up. It’s part of why I make so many plans for different possibilities now. And why I have done my best to become financially comfortable so if I get pregnant the offspring hopefully won’t suffer without due to my inability to provide properly.
