My independence. As a child I wished to be grown up and to be able to decide everything by myself. When I was finally old enough and could do it, I quickly realized that there was a lot of responsibility involved and then I didn't like it that much anymore.

@RobinPhoenix yea, then everything shifts. Instead of the school and parents dictating what you can and cant do, the law and your boss dictates it. Still not very freeing
@iamnikki Yes, exactly. And if you mess up, there are no parents around to stand behind your back and soften things up a bit. You have to stand up for it alone. And you are responsible for your financial obligations and if you fail, the landlord will stand at your door and threaten to throw you out and so on. I quickly learned that freedom is always connected with responsibility towards yourself and others, and that this is anything but a walk in the park. It has its advantages, of course, but also its disadvantages. But you can't see them when you're young.

@RobinPhoenix true. But i was never the kid who wanted to 'grow up'. I was happy being a kid.
@iamnikki I was a happy child for a long time too, but at some point the familiar world around me became too small for me and I wanted to get out, be free and independent and I couldn't wait to finally be grown up. If I had known then what I knew later, I would have enjoyed my childhood and especially my youth even more and not waited so impatiently of being grown up finally.

@RobinPhoenix well what do you do now that you're a grown-up? I've been watching self help videos for hours trying to make better having to change the crappy life I've unintentionally created
