Serious Question - Has anyone moved for love - abroad

I know what people think about long distance - But this is serious, we've met, spent weeks together at a time - But its a big step - Has anyone here made that move and how did it go - good and bad please
I've met and known couples who did this. Some worked well, others not.
So many factors influence the outcome that I don't believe it's possible to generalise.
- Who's career provides the most freedom to move and find employment?
- How do family relationships and responsibilities affect the choice?
- How does it feel to leave friends behind and start again building a whole new set of friends and community?
- Does the new environment provide or reduce opportunities for interests, hobbies, and personal growth?

One of my neighbours, formerly a diamond salesman, left his wife in Tuscon, Arizona, to join a woman in Tweed, Australia. Though no one here knew anything till it was far too late, he took more money with him than he should have (millions). Eventually his ex-wife and the law caught up with him. He went bankrupt. My friend, his 2nd wife, ended up stranded, deserted and penniless.

This story suggests to me that in a long-distance relationship it can be much harder to know who someone is.

@JupiterDreams I think if I was younger I would have already gone.. with age brings caution, I hate it

I had a friend who did. She always said she'd regret it if she didn't do it.
