why do girls/women lie and say they have a boyfriend why not just tell the truth and tell the guy that you're aren't interested or we can be friends?

There are many reasons they might lie. To spare your feelings. To get you to accept the no. To avoid retaliation. Etc. The fact is you don't know what's going on in this person's life or why she does the things she does. You're better off too if she lies so easily lol
@Qwerty14 Whatever the reason given, the answer is no and that should be heard and respected.
@bijouxbroussard Yep. In fact I'd encourage anyone to make sure you use the word "no" just to be clear. Any other words afterwards aren't really needed.
@Qwerty14 True, but believe me when I tell you, just saying “no” doesn’t always end the conversation. That’s why women often come up with reasons. Men do ask “why not” which should be irrelevant.
@bijouxbroussard I mean, I'll play devils advocate and say I understand why. Humans are inquisitive by nature and lots of people say no to things and change their minds afterwards. The latter is even strengthened by idioms like "don't take no for an answer" or "playing hard to get".

I think it's best people make the calls at the time. You know the situation you're in and how close you are to the person you are asking. Stranger in a club? Best walk away. Lifetime friend? Probably ok to ask why. No matter the situation, both parties should be kind and respectful.
@Qwerty14 I imagine the OP was referring to a situation where the two are not well-known to each other.
@bijouxbroussard Ever told a stranger that you wanna be friends? I haven't lol
@Qwerty14 Not a total stranger, but an acquaintance, I might.
