Older people really like to use the phrase "not attractive" when trying to correct me lol

Frank, you're 75. My goal in life is not to be attractive to you 🤷

And it's about such small things, too. A dude went off on my cousin for saying hell. "It's not attractive or ladylike". Well our goals in life do not center around being attractive or ladylike, soooo....
Lucyy · 22-25, F
@AmmieBell deadass lol. FRANK was pissed off because I was talking about getting alcohol for a birthday party lol. Chill, random dude in a store.
I’m older, and I get it, because I’ve long noticed that no one seems to care whether or not a young man is behaving in an “attractive” manner.
That requirement seems reserved for young women. 🙄
Lucyy · 22-25, F
@bijouxbroussard and they don't often seem to be told to act more like gentlemen for some reason 🤔 can't count how many times I've been told I'm not acting very lady-like though.
@Lucyy Exactly. The sexism bothers me.

I'm in the minority here but I don't think that there is anything wrong with aspiring to be a lady.
I also think that's is good to have some standards for feminine qualities.

Sometimes when an older person says that something is not attractive they are thinking much dirtier words about a behavior but they were trained to be polite about it.

I wish that someone in the lives of many young women today that someone had bothered to tell them when something wasn't ladylike.
Old ppl have always given unsolicited advice to the youth. Its almost their main job
Lucyy · 22-25, F
@REMsleep i don't see a reason to raise women with different standards than men. My girls don't need to be feminine to be successful. The expectations of society are changing. Women don't need to be feminine to be successful in general anymore because the overall goals and possibilities for women has expanded. Raise your kids as you will. Mine will be raised with the exact same expectations and morals as their male siblings. They will all have manners. They will all be kind. They will all have chores, indoor and outdoors. they will all be raised to be assertive and strong and to know how to care for children and to fix things and cook. Because these are things I feel are vital to being an adult, and gender is irrelevant to it in my eyes.

@Lucyy I understand. I don't agree but I understand.
Lucyy · 22-25, F
@REMsleep everyone raises their kids different. As long as you do your best and they have the support and skills they need to get by, nobody can say you're a bad parent either way 🤷
