I think i know what dream meant now.

It was about su!c!de and the spirit of utter darkness coming for people who stay too long in their self pity, sense of worthlessness and hopelessness. I was protecting someone precious to me from it. I managed to chase off a small canine like creature that had large teeth. Doesn't our negative thoughts appear like that? A small thought that could bite the most? Anyway, I lead the girl to safety in a home. Before I shut the door behind me, I saw the abyss of darkness in the hills. Lots of people screaming in agony...had a feel like the movie, "Birdbox."
