Oh NO!! Parliament is about to close!?

Whatever will we do?! Where will they mothball all those quill pens?!! And will they ever get into the 21st C and discover 'electronic' and 'video conferencing'. D'oh. 🤦‍♀️

All actions have consequences.
Without a chamber to debate issues that effectively gives the Prime minister power to do whatever he feels needs to be done.
With nowhere to hold him to account.

So. You know. If there are troops on the street this time tomorrow.
If rationing of food or gas or electricity starts tomorrow. If people are going to be herded into trucks and 'disappear' into the night....
That's why its important.

@Valentine Well to be fair if we're talking about the UK Parliament there have been several instances in very recent times where Parliament has been suspended. And THAT because a minority government couldn't get its bills through.
And now they have a massive majority not much the opposition can do about it

@Picklebobble2 I understand (and support) the watchful eye. I was heartened that John McDonnell (Shadow Chancellor, everyone; I know you know Mr Picklebobble) was invited to contribute to Government thinking and policy - he was instrumental in the 80% wages contribution for instance. Whatever your political stance, I can't quite see Corbyn being let anywhere near such inner circles. Perhaps he has.

@Valentine Well, i think Corbyn is on his way out. Labour have this painfully long-winded successor vote going on and no clear winner yet which is probably why McDonnel was involved

Daft comments about quill pens won't help, and anyway major governmental and other organisations the world over still normally meet in person for their main debates. Besides, it was due to rise soon for the Easter break anyway.

I assume the MPs would still be working in their constituencies, though perhaps mainly on line.

The administrative side will still continue as far as possible, in the Ministries and Departments. It has to!
