Why do we strive for perfection if it is not attainable?

I’ve had that question for a long time, and unfortunately I’ve never been able to answer it.

I’ve always been an extreme perfectionist, despite knowing that attaining perfection is nearly impossible.
I think I’ll always strive for perfection, or at the very least, the closest thing to it.

Same. Its a combination of compulsion, nurture, personality, cultural conditioning, and competitive nature.
