All things considering

BEING a witness to my mom defending my life at age 3.

BEING hit by a car and left to die until my mom got off work at age 6. Watching my mother be abused by various boyfriends.

Being a witness to my big brother getting killed at age 9. Drive by shooting.

Watching friends go to juvie and being cast aside at age 12. Getting so drunk I almost died. Over a girl. On a weekend pass home. Robbing Kmart with a 357.

And you wonder why my heart beats no fear ....

Nothing this world can't do to me that hasn't already been done.

I'm TRULY BLESSED TO BE HERE.

That's just PART of my story. So be fair before u judge.

All I will say is I thought the same way to the point that I felt like something was wrong with me. Life has a funny way of correcting your problems. Fear is a gift, Pegasus1. Without fear, without an instinctual, innate need to protect yourself and survive, you don't know when there is a real need to protect yourself or others. Trusting our instincts is our #1 defense. We don't have those instinctual feelings or intuition when we aren't affected by fear. In other words, without fear, you'd die.

Do you know what courage is? It's being fearful and moving forward anyhow. Courage is admirable, because it takes a lot of guts to be fearful yet be the one to protect your peers.

I'm sorry about your childhood. But, do know that it's ok to feel fear under the right circumstances. You should worry if you stop experiencing fear, because if you ever get forced into survival mode...You won't last long.

I highly doubt this was your point in your post, but I wanted to address it. It's a common theme among people who have been in similar situations growing up. And, this way of thinking doesn't benefit anyone including themselves.

I'm glad you're writing.

@perceptivei
Do I understand courage ? I sure hope so. After being deployed 3 times and wounded twice. Thank you again for your comment. 🍻

@Pegasus61 Thank you for your service. So, you see what I'm talking about exactly?

@Pegasus61 You're welcome. I would thank you for reinforcing what I said, but my ego doesn't really care about things like that anymore. But, I will say you're welcome. 🤗

You survived
So what purpose will your life have now that you have control?

@FreeOrchid To pass my knowledge on to others. And to impart that gift.

I survived. And served my country. And still here.

Hugs. Happy 2020 💜
