Why can’t people sleep in public?

Like why do we punish those who go homeless? Isn’t that kinda messed up? Like what if you were homeless and really tired. I bet you’d like to take a little nap. We are all wage slaves technically. If you’re not part of the system then you’re against it by default.

Rather than helping people sleep on the streets, where other people do cruel things like rob them of their meager belongs, sexually assault them, beat them and set them on fire, I think finding them safe shelter is a better use of our efforts. As well as making medical help available to those who are mentally ill or substance abusing (often because they are mentally ill and self-medicating).

@bijouxbroussard I agree. Good point! I just hate how those in power only ever talk about it but never actually do anything dramatic about it.
@HankHill Yes, I’ve noticed that, too. Where I sometimes volunteer there are always more people than beds. And more and more working people who come in when it’s too cold to sleep in their cars.
It’s ridiculous when someone with a job they go to every day can’t afford housing. 😞
