I Have Praise for President Trump!

The president is expected to or perhaps has now signed the PACT Act today, a bill that makes intentional cruelty towards certain animals a federal felony. The bill passed with bipartisan support in the House last month, and the Senate on Nov. 3rd.

I am overjoyed about this. It is about time we take animal cruelty seriously. How it wasn't a felon before is a mystery to me.

@Peapod It is progress, for sure. Unfortunately, while I'm pretty sure all states do already have felony animal cruelty laws in place, they are far too often not enforced. I hope very much, too, that this bill will change that.

@Peapod True, and for [i]victimless[/i] crimes. Unlike Michael Vick for instance, who ended up not even being convicted on actual animal cruelty charges...and only spent 18 months in prison. The he whined about not being able to have a "family" dog, and was not long after [i]allowed[/i] to. 😖
