I’m too young to know for sure but it sounds like baby-boomers had it easier. The economy was so much better, you could quit one job and get another within a day and raise a family on it, not as many people had depression. Someone correct me if I’m wrong on any of this.

@SinlessOnslaught Depression was likely wildly under-diagnosed at the time, and self-medicating more tolerated.

But it’s quite likely there are chemical and social reasons for the rise as well.

@SinlessOnslaught No, you could not raise a family on that one salary; which is why "latch key kids" came into being.
