@SW-User But don't you love those way cool breakout windows they have in the movies?

I always had a grownup childhood fantasy of doing that myself...u know..escaping right through the window and surviving..

The high pitched synthesizer music as he ran away...made me cry. And that longhaired actor is the boy who got sacrificed...

@SW-User Coming from a psych. background it was pretty much spot on for the time. Interesting fact: The cast actually lived on the set during filming. It was a real institution. The man who played the Psych director really held the posistion.
Some of the extra's were actual patients.
@Stilltryinghard I was sad to learn the Native American guy passed away.

@SW-User That WAS a drag and really made me hate Louise Fletcher (Nurse Rathched) Control freaks love those jobs in those settings.

@SW-User They had to "Overdo" her character to further illustrate the contrast of patient vs staff.

@SW-User yes!
@SW-User Things have gotten better over the decades thanks to landmark lawsuits over conditions Federal guidelines have mandated regulations and facilities are surveyed to ensure conditions remain in compliance.

No more random handing out of psychotropic meds. that made them into zombies. Much more focus on quality of life and a regard for ensuring dignity and respect.
@Grateful4you but they still use hurting-people to milk the system now...its so cynical and blatant and actually illegal the way the rope people in and justify it in the records..after the fact. Public health suffers everywhere because of this.
You have 2b a danger to yourself or others to warrant being kidnapped this way and this LAW is routinely violated....

@SW-User It was sad but also helped the public awareness that brought positive changes.
@Stilltryinghard True, the system does remain broken in many ways, at least it isn't quite as barbaric and we have groups like the ARC (Lay people who are active in ensuring compliance and advising needed changes.
